So, I bought this hollow body, which was marked down quite a bit becasuse of this neck problem it has.... The pic is lame, but i drew in a black line where the crack is. Along the neck and fretboard, from about the nut, to 4th fret, the fretboard is comming loose. In most cases I would remove the fretboard with steam, and reglue it. But I didnt know how strong the neck would be with the crack already in it. The dotted line is the neck/headstock joint visible line.
So what I did WAS. I found the smallest drill bit I had, I didnt even see what measurment it was, and measured 1/2 way to 1/2 way of they fretboard (as to not get glue into the truss rod channel), tape off the bit so that only that length shows, and drill in at these dots. I drilled straight into crack. I then got a plastic needle and syringe to inject warmed hide glue into the wholes. But the needle wouldnt fit.... SO, i put the hideglue over the wholes in large quantity and used the air compressor, in quick sweeps to blow the glue into the holes (dont just blow on the glue non-stop, you can chill it, and fuck everything up). I then clamped the neck down with some glue resistant band clamps and let it sit overnight.
After it was done drying, i removed the clamps and sanded down the excess glue out the side of the neck, cleaned the nut slot, and glued in the nut (water/woodglue 3/1). I proceeded to sand the neck down and oil with linseed oil... but thats just me... Works like a charm! After all this dried

What piece of equipment did you use to steam off the fretboard? I used a old steam headed iron, its got notches cut out for the frets, and its the same size as the fretboard, so you can sit it straight onto the wood and soften the glue. It heats to about 250 degrees. If you KNOW you have an exposed truss road channell under the fretboard you can use a neck joint steamer needle and hose, but that means you have to remove a fret, push the needle through the fretboard, and steam the truss rod... which is a quick and easy way to make the truss rod need an adjustment
