Like I said.. I didnt play with it much in the Russos music... I was pretty ashamed of it actually, the Marshall MG series sitting next to it sounded better  |

On the note of the MG, I have the MG30DFX and can get some pretty good sounds out of it. If you want to spend a little more on the amp, and a little less on the guitar, I'd reccomend that anyday of the week. |

how are the line 6 flextones compared to other modeling amps? I really want a good tube amp but for my budget I would probably come out with a not so great guitar...I wanted a 5150 combo but they have skyrocketed on ebay lately =\. and there are no rectoverbs besides one thats kindof out-there right now lol. gear shoppin is stressful

What don't you like the B-52?
The 5150 sounds like a good plan. I'd have no problem buying one on ebay, as long as the seller has good feedback and you get it shipped insured.

I've only bought a few things on Ebay, none music related...
But it is just mind boggling to me that someone would buy an amp or guitar on ebay. Each amp is diffrent from one that is exactly the same... Yeah i know thats a oxyymoron...
But go play 2 5150s in a store, on the same settings, they will sound pretty diffrent... you may luck out and get one that sounds awesome, you may get one that sounds like crap.
On ebay, you cant play it first, get used to it, hear the character of the amp.
Its like a guitar... Its pretty common knowledge that guitars are diffrent from one to the other, even though they may be 1 serial number apart.

The difference is that guitars are wood. If you get one that doesn't sound right or plays like crap, well, you're screwed. Amps sounding different can be a result of a few things but more often than not it's just the tubes themselves. I'd reccomend retubing any modern amp when you get it anyway.
Weird stuff does happen with amps from time to time though, it's never a consideration for me since I can probably figure out what the problem is but I do see where you're coming from.

about the b-52..Eh I really don't like having a half stack ya know =P. i liked it at first but I don't think im ever going to be in a band situation and I just want a combo that has a good metal sound, that I can afford lol. nothing wrong with the sound quality though if thats what you thought..I think it sounds pretty good. If you have any other suggestions for a "metal" combo thats decent im looking. =P
