tube is better in my opinion, they sound more "organic" if that makes sense.

Tube all the way, I wish I had the money for tube, I'm saving up to get a tube amp large enough to kill small mammals.

Tube, a lot warmer sounding and responds to your playing more than a SS amp.

Tube smokes solid state in every regard. It's not even worth comparing.

Add in modeling I say.
Its all based on what you want, prices and availablility.

I don't really care. If it sounds good it sounds good. I don't think I've ever played on more than 2 tube amps, and I didn't really hear the difference.

Tube smokes solid state in every regard. It's not even worth comparing. Yes it is, it's all about opinion and preference. I voted both.

I will say that while I personally prefer my tube amp's sound- it's certainly true that an SS amp with a decent clean won't "color" the sound of your guitar and effects as much. Tube amps add their OWN character to the sound, that SS amps don't. In some ways SS amps can be more versatile, or malleable in that way. Plus they're a butt-load cheaper too, so assess your own needs and get what's best for you.

They're cheaper if you build them yourself . And what does wieght really have to do with it? It's not like a good amp head is impossible to carry. Yeah, well-built things tend to be heavy.
