I'd get a new guitar.

It's cool. I like it because it's as far from a "metal" guitar as you can get.
Your money would be better spent on an amp.

New guitar... and pickups for it .... and maybe an amp, depending on what you have now.

id be pretty interested to hear some heavy ass metal on that thing, but it might not sound like you want. Anybody ever put emg's in a hollowbody?

i only have an Ibanez 15r. my hollowbody sounds really good too. i've never played a really 'metal' guitar because i was never allowed to bring one in the house, nor was i into them at the time but i wanna find out what guitar is for me if my hollowbody already isn't.

Unless you've got money to buy guitars at will (like me, hahahaha!), I'd say stick with it and don't be uptight about it. That guitar can kick ass just fine.

Get a solid body that feels nice and comfortable to you, than throw in some EMG's... it doesn't have to be an extremely expensive guitar. I'm looking for a cheap white with gold hardware LP copy, $200 to $400 max, and I'm going to put an 81 and 85 in it... it's guaranteed to scream.
Reason being, active pickups don't rely on wood as much as passive. I hate when people seem to think guitars that sound good have to be expensive.

^ Yep. I'd never put EMGs in a real Gibson. It might sound alright butit defeats the purpose of buying a guitar with good quality wood to begin with. I wonder how that guitar would sound with EMGs? I've never heard of them in a semi-hollow , might be pretty cool .

Haha. I don't know if they were "fake" it said EMG on it. IT was disgustingly bad sounding though, regardless of what it was.
