i want to start making different sounds. the stuff i have written sounds different from one another, but in a way they sound the same. i'm not sure what it is but i wanna know if i can throw in theory into my music. basically i'm looking for better metal and rock riff creation.

You're constantly using theory whether you think you are or not. All music, tonal, atonal, whatever, follows the "rules" of theory, or conversely, theory applies to any type of music. Theory is simply a way to describe whats happening; there's no rules, just trends.
Post some of your stuff (tab is best) if you wanted it analyzed, maybe I can find a common trend within it that makes it sound so much the same.

The statement is reversable.
A more appropriate way to say it, since you're such a dopey twat would be: Any and all music follows some sort of rule, whether it be conventional or abstract.
