Anyone else like or even hear of these guys? They're one of my favorite bands, and one of the few "newer" bands with some real talent.

I saw them live opening for the Chili Peppers a couple years back I think it was. They were okay, but not terribly impressive live. I got the impression that what they do would be better articulated on a record than infront of a crowd. It was decent, but I wouldn't care to see them live again I don't think. Can you direct me to any specific material I should look into?

I heard a few of their tunes. Not a real big fan but they are alright. Not really my tastes.

Mr B, you should check out their album "Songs for the Deaf". Their earlier stuff is really good too (though the first self-titled album is out of print) but isn't the best place to jump in, although "Rated R" has some good stuff. You'll have "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" stuck in your head a while. Their most recent, "Lullabies to Paralyze" is kind of a love-it-or-hate-it deal. A lot of the songs besides the ones they play on the radio are just flat-out weird. I like it, but Songs for the Deaf is by far my favorite. I've never seen them in concert (they avoid Minnesota for some reason) but I really like their live "Over the Years and Through the Woods" DVD. I can't think of a song on it I don't like, and the live version of "The Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died" (not kidding - it's the name of the song) alone is worth the price. Most of it is stuff that would only really be appreciated by fans of their other stuff though. They most likey have a totally different lineup than they did when you saw them. Their old bassist (Nick Oliveri) is gone and they've got another guitarist, all three guitarists (including Josh, the singer) switch up the bass playing between songs, it's pretty cool. Dave Grohl was drumming for them for a while too (he did the whole SFTD album), I dunno if he was still with them when you they opened for the Chili Peppers.

Is it "No One Knows"?
That song's actually really hard to play on a real guitar.
