Legend has it, Joey Kramer (drummer) used to just draw imaginary band-names on his book covers in high-school and that was one of them. Before that they were known as Justin Time, and Steven Tyler was in a band called Chain Reaction. I kinda like the name Aerosmith though. If you think about it a "smith" is someone who makes and repairs things. Aero could easily be taken as meaning something aerodynamic. So they make songs that fly high? I don't know.

Are we talkin' bout the band itself here, or just their name? Cause they were the first band I was REALLY into and I've got PLENTY to say about them. Being from Boston I've had the chance to see them live many times, and I've just got to say- if you ever get the opportunity you should definitely do it. Even if they're not exactly your thing they're one of the LAST bands that put on a real show like that- it's hard to explain.

(They only did it cause Jimmy Page was, and they're always copying other people) But I think aerosmith is great, you know playing the superbowl(sell outs), playing with Britney Spears at the super bowl(Sell outs, reason why MrB liked them) playing with DMC(sell outs), playing at award shows(sell outs) playing barmitsfas(sell outs) letting M&M use their music was coooool too(sellouts). And the have some of the greatest music too like Angel, I don't wanna miss one thing, jamies got a gun

But the saying "If you book them, they will come"(WW2) was specifically about Aerosmith.

You guys are forgetting about the 30 years of music they made BEFORE playing the Super Bowl. Granted I don't think they've put out a great album since they left Columbia- but I mean, holy shit the first 10 years of their career was INSANE. The first 5 albums, "Aerosmith," "Get Your Wings," "Toys In The Attic," "Rocks," and "Draw The Line," stand even today as an incredible body of work. The only other band I can think of to put out 5 solid albums in a row is the Beatles. Anyway Aerosmith pwns Crue, the playing's better, the singing's WAY better, the song-writing is better, and they've been doing it longer.
