This guy fucking rocks...one of the best players...of any instrument. He doesn't know all the time what an "F# minor 7th" thing is.... But who gives a shit... Can you out play him? You know, BMG, you really confuse me. You hate theory, yet 90% of the guys you listen to are well versed in it? McAlpine, as you say is a pianist, any classical trained pianist knows theory, and I have an inkling of a hunch that he knows some. Yngwie knows some. Batio knows some. I'm sure LYNCH knows some.
Theory isn't constricting its suggestive. You think Beethoven sounds like shit? Mozart? Schoenberg? I thought you liked that stuff.

I wish I knew some theory, but i also believe that it doesn't take a lotta theory to make you great. EVH said he didn't care much for theory. I mean obviously he had to know a little but he still rocked out anyway.
