Act of Depression and Cries of the Past were by far the most metal albums they have ever produced. Changing of Times wasn't as bad...but after that....the band completely fell apart. the only decent band member left of this band is the drummer, and everyone else from the original setup are gone. very unmetal guitarists, and a young, drunken, screamo vocalist.... Spencer Chamberlain.
good metal gone bad? i think so. i listened to their latest music from their latest CD. it's supposed to be 'heavier' but it's not. it's just a bunch of crap. i listened to Act of Depression, like the good old Underoath, and i found myself in a better mood.

yeah this is why i made that thread in general. you guys are more into old school metal. the only old school metal band i can think of that i like the most out of most bands i like is Testament, but i usually listen to them for their acoustic stuff with electric solos or their death metal from The Gathering, because it sounds more like modern death metal. or "extreme" metal. Underoath was a great metal band for their guitar work and drums, as well as their vocalist. now they have new guitarists which aren't very metal at all and a screamo vocalist. they try to be metal but they suck. more like hardcore/screamo crap. i prefer the oldstyle Underoath with the tremelo picking and the various dark-sounding guitars. now the band has too much upbeat-sounding hardcore stuff. it sucks. heavy music should never be upbeat. it should be on the downbeat as much as possible. in other words, it sounds to happy to me. when i listen to metal, it better sound like death, no hope, end of life, etc. if the music doesn't sound like it (and the lyrics aren't fitting at all), then it sucks to me. that's why Testament sounds really good to me, listen to their lyrics and their music. aggressive, sometimes sad (for acoustic stuff) and lyrics are pretty much in your face. Underoath's Spencer Chamberlain....i have no clue what the hell he is talking about nor do i care. i just want oldstyle Underoath to come back someday or at least a similar band because they were wicked. but i suppose they were not worth it since they broke up over their vocalist's personal problems. what a stupid reason to break up a band. anyways, listen to Testament and some Underoath from Act of Depression and/or Cries of the Past. those are their 2 most metal CDs, and also the songs that got me into metal mainly besides a few other bands.
