My brother is a good bass player, recently bought a bass with active pups- he said he thought they were better for basses than passive ones, but we were out eating dinner with my father at the time, and we didn't want to bore him talkin' about it. So I'll take the question to YOU guys. Why would active pups be better for bass?

I don't know but THUNDERGUTS' bass has an active preamp and I think it also has active pickups and it sounds way better than the one he has with passive stuff.
maybe he'll see this thread and respond (he can probably tell you better then I can)
