I have a Pioneer SA 5800 stereo amp that I have hooked up to a cd player. is there anyway to convert it to a guitar amp, I don't have a schematic. It doesn't have a 1/4 jack for guitar but maybe I can add one in?

It would be relatively easy to turn into a guitar amp. Probably just get a 1/4" to stereo RCA converter or rig up your own. There are a couple problems, as I have done this. First of all, it sounds like shit to a degree. I recomend if you use distortion to use a pedal in front of it, and if not, then I don't know. :/ Just make sure not to turn it too loud. You don't want to blow the speakers.

From what I've gathered, the SA5800 is a rather well-built solid state hi-fi amp. Keep your CD player plugged in, this one's a rather nice amp for home stereo use but will sound absolutely horrible using it for guitar. It'll be much more useful if you keep it as-is. If you're going to go through the trouble of converting something, make sure it has tubes.

You can wire your guitar signal in through the volume control maybe, if theres no AUX input.
You'll also have to disconnect the tweeters as they will make your guitar sound harsh and tinny.
Still, there are problably important differences between a stereo woofer and a guitar speaker.
