Let's say you want to record some of your compositions, and you are paying $800 per hour for studio usage, and triple union scale for the musicians you hired for the session. Those musicians damned well better be able to read your charts! Just ask Steve. I'm not talking about learning something fast... I personally learn MUCH faster by ear, but to each his own. I'm talking purley musical Whenever you're playing the guitar you're training your ear. If you're reading off paper you're pounding common note patterns and intervalic patterns into your head, thus training your ear, and your sight reading skills.
