has it been done? and if so, why isn't everyone doing it? wind, water, and solar energy can be good ways to power your own home...anyone know anything about this?

There is a few houses mostly in california that I have heard of. They have solar panels on their roof and when the sun is out they produce power for their own house and put energy into the power grid. When they arn't generating power they get power from the grid. They usually make an excess and the power company pays for that.

its difficult to get all the things you need and to install solar panels and its not always reliable. Most people dont like living right next to rivers and wind power is more difficult to harness to get enough power. With solar power you probably still need to use some city electricity but it still saves lots of money though.

not to mention solar panels cost an arm, a leg, and your first born.
