This is in the Key of E, so I would use the E Minor Pentatonic if I was going to
solo over this rhythm.

Depends on the size of your hand. My hands are neither big nor small and I can just *barely* do that from the second position on a 25-1/2" scale Fender neck.

On a 24-3/4" scale neck, or in 5th position or higher, it's a different story.

I never actually got the use for the blues shuffle- it just bored me and seemed like a VERY basic introduction into blues. I can see 'em used everynow and then sparingly, but don't really see 'em as that important. To me the purpose of the blues shuffle is to get you used to the shuffle RHYTMN. Or am I confused? *ponders*

Uhm, actually almost all blues songs use a 12 bar blues progression, and the shuffle is the typical version of a 12 bar blues.

STandardized by RJ...used from then on...Robert johnson uses it almost all the time, in delta they do the 12 bar usually with their thumb, and 2 fingers, then play fills over the top at the same time.

Far out... I usually thought of a 12-bar blues as this progression that repeats every 12 bars with major 7th's and such. Even though blues is meant to be very repetitive I thought the blues shuffle way was really, really, too repetitive.

Its all repetitive in the same way unless you play jazz-blues.

I-IV-V, the 7th isn't making it any less repetitive its just an extension.

And they use dom7ths, not maj7ths.

Infact, shuffles may be considered hipper because you're often using a 6th chord.

I can play the tritone interval between the 3rd and 7th, and let the bass player pick up the root, not to mention I could use a barred voicing with my 2, non retarded fingers. Nub.
