What's up guys? I know I know- you're thinkin' "But Mr. B, you play slow as shit man- what gives?" Well I'm not talking about soloing and that kinda thing. I'm talkin' about the tempo of my band's songs overall. Some of our songs go back nearly two years now. They've all evolved over time, but invariably they're all a lot FASTER now than they were when we wrote them. Part of it is we've played out a few times now, and infront of a crowd a faster rhythm elicits more dancing- which is cool. But I occasionally give a listen to the old shit, and I can't help but think we were a lot more PATIENT about our playing, more relaxed. Anyone else run into this problem? Does playing infront of people change the way you think about your music?

It happens when you get real comfortable with something. You can play it faster, naturally (more time spent on something=a decrease in difficult), because you can.
I've never changed the tempo of anything when playing in live in relation to just playing it alone, but over time I will play things I used to play slow fast. Just cus.

Have y'all changed your eating habits or anything like that? I know that whenever I eat too many donuts, I get this compulsive urge to shred Maybe after a lot of practice and gaining more of a "comfort level" with playing the stuff, you just gradually speed thing up without really being conscious of it.

Playing faster isnt a bad thing... You get more songs into your set But really, dont worry about your playing not being as patient... thats hippie bullshit right there!

Thanks Valve- you're right man, lol. I think it's partly what Emix said too though- maybe we played them slow initially cause we were still working them out, and finding it difficult to play faster. Now that we CAN play them kinda fast, we do. After some shows it was obvious the faster ones kept the crowd up on their feet better, so we kinda just leaned that way.
